Why felt ?
Felt is a balm for our strained ears and eyes. The inseparably connected fibers help to absorb and neutralize excessive sound waves. This dampens the noise level inside a vehicle and also prevents the transmission of unwanted noise from outside. Felt can not only reduce the noise level, but also offers a slight insulation effect against the cold. But the most important point for our customers is the comfort that a vehicle interior optimized with felt brings.
Felt is suitable for my project ?
Our felts transform even the dullest van, boat and all other DIY projects of our customers
to a place where you want to stay.
How do I best process the felt ?
Nothing is easier than covering / cladding / beautifying the vehicle interior with our felts
- After thoroughly cleaning the area to be glued with IPA cleaner or brake cleaner, you can get started straight away. You can easily remove any adhesive residue with an adhesive residue remover such as Industry Clean from Würth. IMPORTANT: Then clean again with a degreasing cleaner, as new adhesive will obviously not stick to adhesive remover. 😉
- Measure the required amount and cut off a corresponding piece from the meter-long material, adding a little extra.
- Remove the backing film on one side and press the felt onto the appropriate spot. Then glue the felt bit by bit, peeling off the backing film as needed. Work around curves with plenty of tension and pull out wrinkles. Until the felt is finally pressed into place, it can still be corrected by peeling it off and re-gluing it.
- Remove excess felt with a sharp carpet knife.
- final result once again.
COMPLETE!
Why self -adhesive felt ?
You don’t put glue on your stickers before you stick them on, do you?!
Our self-adhesive felt is perfect for the interior of your vehicles or boats.
- No additional spray adhesive
- No sanding of the vehicle paint
- No need to tape off windows, furniture or similar beforehand
- No glue on your fingers
- No additional cleaning of the environment after felting
Our felts are extremely adhesive after final assembly, very flexible and therefore ideally suited for all 3D applications.
In addition, our felts are extra durable and do not develop unsightly pilling after a short time like most felts from other manufacturers.
Furthermore, all of our felts are ideal for creating invisible butt joints between two felt sheets.
How stretchy is the felt ?
Our PREMIUM FELT is easy to work with, is slightly stretchy and supple. It can be easily glued around edges and curves.
For an even easier implementation of your project or if you have never felted before, we recommend our CARPET FELTThis has an even higher elasticity and is therefore perfectly suited for lining, covering and covering all 3D challenges, such as wheel arches.
Self -adhesive is good and good, but the felt also holds ? at extreme temperatures
Our adhesive is temperature-resistant from -30 to at least +100 degrees Celsius - so the felt won't fall off your walls if you're in a warm place for a long time! Even a car roof doesn't heat up that much. Additional insulation for the vehicle further defuses the situation.
The felt also sticks to insulation such as Vanue or Armaflex ?
Yes, it holds very well. Best of all, of course, when the insulation is not old and crumbly. 😉
The felt also adheres to fabric/original fabric cladding/roof sky fabric ?
There is no general answer to this question. The felt sticks best to smooth, dust-free surfaces that have been defatted So, in general, it can be said that the felt always holds as well as the surface it is made from allows. It is best to test it in advance using one of our samples.
Many customers have already felted their headliners in the driver's cab and report that it holds really well.
How do I prepare the surface in front of ?
It's super fast: Remove old adhesive residue, dust surface & degrease and start felting!
IMPORTANT: If you use an adhesive remover such as Industry-Clean, then clean again afterwards with a degreasing cleaner, as new adhesive will obviously not stick to adhesive remover. 😉
I can process the felt at cold temperatures ?
The colder it is, the better you should warm up the felt and the surface you want to stick to beforehand. If the temperature is in the single digits, you should consider heating your van - that way your fingers won't freeze and the felt will hold much better!
How best do I clean the felt ?
The easiest way to do this is not to let the dirt dry, but to wipe it off immediately with a damp cloth and a little soap/detergent.
Is the felt color right ?
Yes, the felt is colorfast, so it can withstand sunlight very well.
How do I best store the felt ?
You don't use it all straight away? No problem. It will stay beautiful for the longest if it is kept dry and frost-free. It can stay rolled up.
The felt is smell -neutral and allergy -consumed ?
Our felt and the adhesive are completely odorless. You won't get any pungent or unpleasant smells with our felt, as can occur when using spray adhesive. A customer who is allergic to even the slightest chemical smell was able to cover her car with our felt without any problems.
Only the Fantasia felt may smell a little shortly after unpacking due to the printing ink, but the smell disappears on its own in a very short time (a few minutes - a few hours)!
I can remove the felt ?
Yes, that is easily possible.
You pull the felt off with a little force. It should come off in one piece. Since the felt is designed to last a long time, it may take a little force. Any adhesive residue can be removed with an adhesive residue remover such as Industry Clean by Würth be removed again.
If you want to stick something back on after using Industry Clean, make sure you degrease it first! Of course, no glue will stick to an adhesive remover. 😉
Why do I need to sound extra ? not enough for the cheap ones from the hardware store ?
Yes, it may be tempting to go for cheap blades, but no, believe us, we didn't look for very good blades without reason. It's a lot more fun and a lot less effort if you invest money in good snap-off blades. Not to mention that the cutting edges and therefore the end result only look clean if the blade is always sharp.
Don’t say later that we didn’t tell you 😉
